One of the most common signs of hearing loss is having to turn up the volume on things, such as the TV. It’s often a friend or family member commenting on how loud you are listening to things that ultimately results in booking an initial hearing consultation.
Why do I need a TV streamer if I have hearing aids?
Whilst hearing aids improve hearing loss, sometimes watching TV or listening to music can still be challenging. Watching TV where there are music and sound effects over speech can make it hard to follow the on-screen conversations. Your listening experience can also be affected by background noise in your home. It can also be difficult to find the right volume for everyone in the room.

What is a TV streamer?
A TV streamer is a device that connects to your hearing aids via Bluetooth. It then streams the sound from the TV directly into your ear via your hearing aid. The TV streamer plugs directly into the TV. It does not affect the sound for any other people also watching the TV with you. Different hearing aid manufacturers have different models for their specific hearing aids but the majority all have a version to purchase. For some TV streamers, your hearing care professional will need to pair your hearing aids to the device for you.

If you are interested in purchasing a TV streamer for your hearing aids, please give us a call. We’d be happy to talk you through your options. If you have read this blog and realised you’ve been turning up the volume too high, it might be time for you to book in for a hearing consultation.
