Wearing and using hearing aids for the first time can be a little overwhelming and there\u2019s lots of things to remember too. We\u2019re here to give you our top tips so that you can manage this first stage of your hearing journey with ease.<\/h3>\n

Insert your hearing aids correctly<\/h4>\n

No matter which type of hearing aid<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span> you use, if they are not inserted into your ear correctly, they won\u2019t be helping as much as they should. In fact, they could even be causing you discomfort or creating feedback. It takes time and practice to learn how to insert your hearing aids perfectly. At your hearing aid fitting appointment<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>, your hearing healthcare professional will show you how to put your hearing aids in and will then help you to do it yourself. If you feel like you need more instruction, please ask!<\/p>\n

Buying hearing aids with us comes with 2 years\u2019 worth of aftercare appointments and this includes as many follow up appointments as necessary until you feel content with your new hearing aids. You can ask your hearing care professional for help with inserting your hearing aids or any other issues that may have arisen during these follow up appointments.<\/p>\n

Clean your hearing aids regularly<\/h4>\n

Hearing aids need cleaning regularly to keep them in top working condition. Your hearing care professional will show you how to do this. By giving your hearing aids a visual inspection, you will be able to see where needs cleaning. You can then select which tools or brushes you need. You should start by using a soft clean cloth to wipe over your aids gently. Do not ever use water or place your aids in water as this could ruin them. There are even specific antibacterial hearing aid wipes that you can purchase to wipe over your aids. Once you have wiped them over, you can begin to use the small brushes and tools to dislodge any ear wax that may have built up. You should consider doing this every other day, if not, every day.<\/p>\n

Attend your scheduled hearing appointments<\/h4>\n

Your hearing care professional should book you in for hearing appointments at least once every 6 months. At these appointments, they will re-test your hearing and reprogram your hearing aids to ensure any changes to your hearing are captured. It is also your opportunity to ask any questions that may have come to mind in the previous 6 months. They can ensure you have been cleaning your hearing aids correctly and check the connection from your hearing aids to your smartphone is still intact.<\/p>\n
