We’ll choose the right earwax cleaning for you
Oiling your ears before your appointment
We recommend you use pure olive oil eardrops to soften the wax before your appointment. We want to remove your earwax blockage as quickly and easily as possible on the day of your appointment and oiling with medicated olive oil eardrops will help with this.
5 to 6 olive oil drops once a day for a period of 3 to 5 days is usually enough to soften the wax. Olive oil eardrops should be put in whilst laying down on the side you have wax and gently massaging the outer part of the ear to help the wax reach the deeper part of the earwax. If you are known to have dry wax you will need to oil for longer, for 5-7 days at least.
Earwax Removal after the COVID-19 pandemic
We’ve kept strict protocols and procedures for sanitizing and cleansing set out by the Ministry Of Health and CPCM guidelines, even after the COVID-19 pandemic. Our highly trained experts will still be wearing PPE and maintain a safe distance where possible during your appointment to ensure you are protected.
Your Home Earwax Removal Options
Microsuction
A gentle water-free method developed by Ear Nose and Throat Specialists where the expert uses magnification and a suction machine to remove the wax. This method doesn’t require messy oiling for weeks before your appointment and the wax is often removed in one large piece so you can see what has come out.
We recommend 5-6 drops of medicated olive oil drops in the ear 3-5 days before your appointment and the rest will be taken care of at your appointment. When you book an appointment with us please let the team know if you have hard or impacted wax beforehand.

Syringing
If you prefer traditional irrigation where water is used to flush the ear wax our experts are also highly trained in this method. This method is also sometimes used if wax is too soft to be removed using microsuction.
Using a carefully controlled stream of warm water on pre-oiled earwax means an instant relief from the blockage in your ear.
Irrigation usually requires some pre-oiling to be done beforehand, typically 14 days before the appointment.
Lots of our patients find this procedure very soothing.
